Virtual world – What is Metaverse?

The metaverse, a term rapidly gaining traction among Gen Z, is a digital space platform that allows users to immerse themselves in a wide range of human activities within a virtual world. As a simulated universe designed for living, exploring, and engaging in activities akin to the real world, the metaverse is continually evolving to integrate virtual, physical, and virtual economies. While most commonly associated with video games, the metaverse also finds applications in various sectors, including business, education, and retail.

To foster innovation and explore the vast potential of the metaverse, Venture Makers from Launch Pad (Technology Business Incubator), in collaboration with Virbela, is launching the “The Next Innovation Challenge: Welcome to the Metaverse”. This competition offers an opportunity for everyone to delve deeper into the metaverse and contribute to its optimal development. It also serves as a platform for individuals to connect, share ideas, and learn from each other within a virtual environment. This competition is part of the institution’s entrepreneurship development program designed to nurture a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Hosted through Launch Pad and in collaboration with renowned industry partners, the Launch Event also featured prominent industry guests such as Peter Xing – an educator and practitioner of transhumanism and emerging technologies, and Alex Howland – president and co-founder of Virbela.

The winning team was the team with a representative from Vietnam.

The competition officially took place on May 19th, with the winning team led by Mr. Tran Anh Khoi, Founder & CEO of Hitek Group. Comprising members from various countries worldwide, the team had the opportunity to exchange knowledge and collaborate on a joint project aimed at innovating the metaverse. This victory has opened doors for the team to build industry relationships and hone essential skills such as ideation, teamwork, and presentation. It sets a strong foundation for future global metaverse projects.

It is a great honor that the winning team has a representative from Vietnam. Hopefully, in the future, Mr. Tran Anh Khoi will bring users an application from Metaverse that is useful for Vietnamese people in particular and the world in general.
